Area Rug Care & Maintenance

  1. My new area rug is beautiful. How do I keep it that way?

    ?

The most important step in the care of your new area rug is regular vacuuming. Soil is the enemy of your rug's fibers so the less dirt the better.
  2. O.K. I get that I need to vacuum. What else can I do to protect my area rug?

    ?

    1. Don't track dirt inside. Place mats at strategic areas of your home to catch the soil before it reaches your rug. 2. Move your heavy furniture occasionally. Use carpet protectors under furniture legs. 3. Use window coverings to reduce periods of direct sunlight to your rug.
  3. I have a shag area rug. It's not going to get frizzy is it?

    ?

If your rug has shag, cables or thick looped pile, use a suction only vacuum. Or raise the beater bar of your vacuum so that it doesn't agitate the pile and cause frizzing.
  4. Yikes! I've got a spot on my rug. What do I do?

    ?

Accidents happen. Try to remove as much of the spill as possible working from the outer edges to the center. If necessary, use a recommended cleaning solution for the fibers in your rug. Ask your sales representative for advice. Make sure to rinse the area well with water to remove any sticky residue that may remain from the spill. Then blot well with a clean white towel, even if it feels dry. It is best to layer white towels over the affected area and weigh the towels down with something heavy to absorb any moisture that may remain.
  5. Is there an Area Rug Protection Plan?

    ?

Yes. You can order a 5 year Protection Plan for your new area rug. This is a limited warranty against staining only and is only available for new rugs. Ask your Sales Representative for details.
